FINANCIAL AID

Back to FAQ

Q:  Is there funding available for Continuing Education classes?

A:  Continuing Education classes are not eligible for financial aid assistance such as the Pell Grant or Hope Scholarship. Currently, you must pay for most classes; however, some classes qualify for WIA funding. Also, SSUCE has affiliation with Key Career Lending, an education financial lending agency that will lend up to $3,000 for a SSUCE class. Qualification for this loan is based solely on your personal credit history. Visit their web site at www.keylend.com, choose the student option, select university, and Savannah State University Continuing Education to complete an application. Call the SSU Continuing Education office for more information on WIA funding.

LOGISTICS

Back to FAQ

Q:  Where is the Office of Continuing Education?

A:  There are two main entrances onto the SSU campus:

  • Turn on to LaRoche from Skidaway Street in the direction of the University. From LaRoche, make a left turn on Tompkins Street and onto the campus. Follow Tompkins Street to the intersection, turn right and follow the street to the Felix Alexis Circle.  The King Frazier Student Center is the last building before the next thoroughfare that intersects with Felix Alexis Circle.  Continuing Education is located behind the Post Office, Room 100A.

  • From Victory Drive, turn on to Whatley between the BP and Parkers gas stations. Turn left on Falligant Avenue.  Turn right one block into the University front-gated entrance. The second building on the left is King Frazier. Use the entrance, between the bookstore and the post office.  Continuing Education is in room 100A.

Q:  What about parking?

A:  On the first day of class, students parking on SSU campus five days or less for a Continuing Education class will receive a temporary parking pass at the LaRoche Guard gate.  The decal is to be displayed in the front window of your vehicle (should a student desire to purchase a parking decal for future use, contact the cashiers office). Students parking more than five days will need to purchase a $10 parking decal good until August of the following academic school year (decals are subject to SSU's parking policy).
