Q: What kind of classes does SSU Continuing Education offer? A: We offer classes under four (4) delivery tiers; Certification/Workforce development, Professional Growth, Personal Enrichment, and On-line Technology . Q: Who can take Continuing Education classes? A: Anyone can take continuing education classes. SSU Continuing Education provides learning events for adults, youth, seniors, professionals, laborers, blue collar workers and college students. Everyone is welcome. If you are considering returning to college, interested in personal enrichment and professional growth classes or if you are a post graduate who needs continuing education units to stay current in your degree area, we have classes for you. Most classes do not require a high school diploma or even a GED! (Please inquire about prerequisites for each class and other exceptions). Q: Will I get credit for taking a Continuing Education class? A: All classes will get a certificate of completion. Most classes qualify for Continuing Education Unit(s) CEU’s (click here to learn more about CEU’s) Some classes are certification training and after successfully completing those classes the learner may earn an industry certification that can be used in a portfolio for employment. Q: Will I receive confirmation? A: Yes, if you register on line, you will receive confirmation that your registration request has been received, however, your registration will be completed only when payment is received. If you register by phone and do not have an e-mail address, you will receive a registration number by phone. If you make payment at the cashier’s office, your receipt will serve as your confirmation.
Q: Is there funding available for Continuing Education classes? A: Continuing Education classes are not eligible for financial aid assistance such as the Pell Grant or Hope Scholarship. Currently, you must pay for most classes; however, some classes qualify for WIA funding. Also, SSUCE has affiliation with Key Career Lending, an education financial lending agency that will lend up to $3,000 for a SSUCE class. Qualification for this loan is based solely on your personal credit history. Visit their web site at www.keylend.com, choose the student option, select university, and Savannah State University Continuing Education to complete an application. Call the SSU Continuing Education office for more information on WIA funding.
Q: When are payments due? A: Payments are due three (3) business/working days prior to the start of class. Q: How do I make payments? A: You can make payments several ways: 1. Bring your payment (cash, check, debit or credit card) to the cashier's office located in the J.B. Colston Administration Bldg (click here to see a picture of the J. B. Colston). Make CASH payments at the cashier's office ONLY. Make check(s) payable to SSU Continuing Education 2.

To pay by credit card or debit card, call 912-691-5557 or go to the cashier’s office in Colston the Administration building, then notify Continuing Education with your receipt number by phone (912-691-5557). (click here for the direction to Colston Administration Building) Q: Can you hold a space for a course until payment is made? A: No. You must provide a credit or debit card number to ensure a space. Q: How do I get books for classes? A: Books can be purchased at the SSU bookstore. Call the office of Continuing Education to find out if textbooks are included in the class fee or purchased separately (912-691-5557 for information about textbooks for classes). Q: What happens if the class is canceled? A: Payment in full will be refunded based on type of payment received (see refund guidelines below). Q: Can I transfer monies from one class to another? A: Yes, you can transfer money from one class to another if the class is cancelled or if you are interested in another class (if you are interested in another class, you must request the transfer 3 days prior to the start of the initial class otherwise the transfer amount will be subject to the refund policy). Q: How do I get a refund? A: Please check our refund policies to ensure that you qualify for a refund. If you do, please call the SSU Continuing Education office at 912-691-5557 or e-mail us at contined@savstate.edu. Below are the refund timelines/guidelines.
Q: How do I find out where classes will be held? A: Every effort will be made to contact you regarding the class time and location. In some cases, you may receive the class date, time and location in your confirmation letter. YOU MUST call the office if you have not received this information 24 hours before the start of a class. Q: How will I know if my class is going to meet or not? A: In most instances, a SSUCE staff will notify you of cancellations, relocations or if a class is rescheduled.

Q: What about parking? A: On the first day of class, students parking on SSU campus five days or less for a Continuing Education class will receive a temporary parking pass at the LaRoche Guard gate. The decal is to be displayed in the front window of your vehicle (should a student desire to purchase a parking decal for future use, contact the cashiers office). Students parking more than five days will need to purchase a $10 parking decal good until August of the following academic school year (decals are subject to SSU's parking policy).
Q: Can SSU Continuing Education offer customized training? A: We can take any of our courses and tailor them to your business’ needs. If there is a course you need that is not listed, call to inquire about customized training (912-691-5557). Q: Can SSU Continuing Education invoice for instruction/training?
